DURHAM — Burlington Christian Academy won the Triangle-Triad Athletic Conference girls’ cross country conference championship Thursday at Carolina Friends School, placing four runners in the top 11 finishers led by Hailey Copland’s second-place finish in a time of 22 minutes.
BCA accumulated a team score of 46 to edge Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill (50) and Trinity Academy of Raleigh (57).
Larkin Topper of BCA placed fifth in a time of 24:04 while Jesse Yoder ran a time of 25:06 to finish in 10th place just ahead of teammate Hadassah Morton at 11th in 25:23.
Evidah Toper rounded out the scoring for BCA in 26:52 and 18th place.
Molly Kuzma of The O’Neal School was the individual winner in 21:14 — 46 seconds ahead of Copland.
‒ In the boys’ race, BCA had a team score of 55 to claim third place, finishing behind Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill (37) and Trinity Academy of Raleigh (50).
Alexander Hibbs of Trinity Academy of Raleigh won in a time of 18:37.
BCA was led by Jacob Cockerham’s fourth-place time of 19:49 and Josiah Morton’s sixth-place finish in 20:13.
Alexander Hyatt placed eighth for the Royals in 20:23 and Brock Matheny notched another top 10 finish for BCA in 20:39 to finish 10th.
Sam Cobler finished the scoring for BCA with a 27th-place finish in 22:58.
Boys’ soccer
Friday at Graham, Alamance Christian School rolled past visiting Faith Christian School of Ramseur 10-1 in a North Carolina Christian School Association Class 2-A District 2 Conference game.
Johny Cline scored three goals and Dawson Link added two goals to lead the Warriors (13-2, 6-1).
Aaron Knudson, Micah LaTour, Caleb Sloate, Zion LaTour and Jack Verroi chipped in a goal apiece for ACS.
Jacob Avelino scored for the Eagles (0-10-1, 0-7).
